The Standard of King Sobhuza II, who reigned Swaziland from 1921 to his death in 1982, was the National Flag with a small gold lion on the upper stripe. The flag's colours are crimson for the battles of the past, blue for peace and stability and yellow for its mineral wealth. A Swazi oxhide-shield of the Emasotsha regiment, decorated with feather tassels, and two spears stand for protection of the country.
